Location:  US, CT – Based at our Naugatuck service center and primarily servicing New Haven, Fairfield, Litchfield, Hartford and Middlesex Counties.  Employees with a residence outside of the Naugatuck area may be dispatched from their residence.  
 
Pay Rate:  $19.00 to $31.97/hour ($39,520.00 - $66,500.00 annually)
Pay rate based on applicant’s skills, experience, training/education, certifications, licenses and position.

Our company provides a wide range of products and services and our technical services team is made up of a variety of positions and specialties.  We are currently seeking applicants for Fixed Network Equipment (FNE) Installation Technician.  FNE Installation Technicians provide implementation and repair services at our location and customer’s location with company supplied vehicles. 
 
This position requires basic mechanical, electrical and electronics aptitude and low voltage or equipment installation/cabling and/or antenna installation training and/or experience.  Salary, daily responsibilities and the opportunity for advancement are based on the skills and experience that a candidate possesses.  All interested individuals are urged to apply.

At minimum applicants should be able to:
  • Use basic hand tools and power equipment
  • Have a very good mechanical aptitude and understanding of construction basics
  • Have a fitness level which will allow them to carry loads up to 75 to 100 pounds up a flight of stairs, indoors and outdoors over uneven ground
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems or escalate problems in a timely manner while following consistent, standard approaches
  • Document all work, including updating cases related to service/installation requests and other tasks in a call tracking system
  • Be a self-starter and work effectively and reliably with minimal supervision
  • Be on time for work and have consistent attendance
  • Have a diverse skill set that will allow them to think on their feet in a variety of situations
  • Have the ability to relate well to customers and co-workers and to explain technical information in basic, understandable terms
  • Work at heights on roofs, lifts and ladders
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions
           
Requirements
  • Familiarity and experience with the installation of low voltage cabling, equipment cabling and/or antenna systems
  • Knowledge of basic electronics and mechanical systems.  Applicant must be familiar with concepts such as:
    • AC/DC voltage and current
    • Understanding of wire size
    • Switches and relays
    • Use of a Digital Volt Meter
    • Low voltage cabling
    • Equipment cabling
    • Basic building and construction principles
  • Strong problem solving ability
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret installation and repair instructions and diagrams
  • Familiarity with the use of various hand and power tools
    • The company supplies specialty tools to complete work, however the employee is required to provide basic hand tools and equipment
  • Ability to learn to make RF and power connectors utilizing crimp tools and soldering irons
  • Ability to learn to use industry specific tools and test equipment
  • Ability to learn mounting and grounding techniques to industry standards
  • Valid Connecticut driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
    • Routine Motor Vehicle Reports (MVR), back ground checks, drug tests, physicals and proficiency tests may be required on an ongoing basis 
  • Ability to pass company’s and customer’s background checks
  • Ability to pass pre-employment physical, drug test and proficiency tests
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and standard office equipment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook (Email), Word, Excel and web browser and other standard Windows programs
  • Experience with, or as a public safety end user or first responder is a plus
  • Ability to perform work outside of normal hours/overtime support on an as needed basis
  • Ability to lift and carry 75 to 100 pounds of equipment or test equipment on flat surfaces and up stairs
  • Ability to assist others with deployment of equipment by carrying loads in excess of 75 pounds with others from time to time
  • Ability to walk on uneven ground, up hills and in other outdoor areas, while carrying tools and equipment, during various weather conditions, in order to access remote equipment sites
  • Ability to work with materials and equipment above head height and to articulate into tight spaces to facilitate installation, service and repair of equipment
  • Ability to work off of step ladders or extension ladders
  • Ability to work on roof tops, both flat and pitched and on parapets
  • Ability to learn safe and proper operation of man lifts and other specialty equipment
  • Dexterity in and ability to articulate in tight works spaces and work with both hands in the tight works spaces and above head level
  • Ability to be flexible in a dynamic and changing work day
  • Available to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to travel out of state for training on occasion
  • Obtain Motorola R56 certification and other Motorola certifications within 18 months
  • Obtain OSHA 10 card within 18 months
  • Obtain Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection V6 license within 24 months
  • Maintain our company goals including honesty, integrity and ethical behavior at all times
 
Duties Include
  • Delivery of equipment and materials to offsite locations
  • Configuration of equipment in our staging area and at customer locations
  • Installation of various equipment into buildings and structures
  • Installing equipment, racks and cabling
  • Drilling holes in various materials
  • Using various anchors to secure equipment and cables
  • Installing antennas on buildings and on poles
  • Completion of documentation of equipment, installation parameters, activities and materials
  • Keep vehicle and work area clean and maintained
  • Other duties as they may be required
               
In addition to the technical requirements, we are looking for individuals who are team-oriented and who work and communicate effectively with others at all levels throughout the organization.  Excellent customer service skills with the willingness to provide world-class support are a must.
